BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION FOR A PRECINCT 59; PROVIDING FOR A MAP OF THE VOTING PRE-11 CINCTS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING THAT ALL PORTIONS OF SF,CTION 10-6 NOT ' f"'. ,., AMEN:UED SHALL REMAIN THE SAME; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to amend the boundaries of certain voting precincts because of recent annexations and to establish a voting precinct 59 within an area formerly having no voting population and to further conform City of Lubbock voting precincts with Lubbock County voting precincts; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended by amending Section 10-6 as to the boundary descriptions of Precincts 20, 27 and 52 as follows: Voting Precinct No. 20. Beginning at the intersection of east. 19th Street with the east city limits; thence south along the east city limits to the north city limits at 58th Street; thence east along the north city limits to the east city limits; thence south along the east city limits to the south city limits at east 66th Street; thence west along the south city limits to the east city limits; thence south along the east city limits to its intersection with the track of the A.T. & S.F. Railroad; thence northwest along the tracks of the A.T. & S.F. Railroad to their intersection with the F.W. & D.C. Railroad; thence northwest along the tracks of the F.W. & D.C. Railroad to their intersection with Avenue H; thence north along Avenue H to its inter- section with 19th Street; thence east along 19th Street to the point of beginning. The voting place shall be Ella Iles School. Voting Precinct No. 27. Beginning at the intersection of Brownfield Road and Slide Road; thence south along Slide Road to 46th Street; thence east along 46th Street to its intersection with Vicksburg Avenue; thence south along Vicksburg Avenue to its intersection with 48th Street; thence east along 48th Street to its intersection with Utica Avenue; thence south along Utica Avenue to its intersection with Loop 289; thence southeast along Loop 289 to its intersection with Quaker Avenue; thence south along Quaker Avenue to its intersection with 82nd Street; thence west along 82nd Street to a point 150 feet west of its inter- section with Frankford Avenue; thence south 150 feet to the south city limits; thence west along the south city limits to the intersection of the west city limits; thence north along the west city limits to Brownfield Road; thence northeast along Brownfield Road to the point of beginning. The voting place shall be the Precinct 1 Clubhouse. Voting Precinct No. 52. Beginning at the intersection of 82nd Street and Slide Road; thence east along 82nd Street to its intersection with University Avenue; thence south along University Avenue 150 feet; thence east along a line 150 feet south of 82nd Street to a point at the east city limits 150 feet east of Avenue U; thence south along the east city limits to the south city limits which is 660 feet south of 98th Street; thence west along the south city limits to the east .~ city limits which is 660 feet east of Indiana Avenue; thence south DGV:cl along'the east city limits to the south city limits; thence west along the south city limits to the west city limits which is 150 feet west of Memphis Avenue; thence north along the west city limits to the south city limits; thence west along the south city limits to its intersection with Slide Road; thence north along Slide Road to the point of begin- .ning. The voting place shall be designated in the election order. SECTICN 2. THAT the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended by adding the boundary description of Voting Precinct No. 59 to Section 10-6 immediately following the boundary descr.iption for Voting Precinct No. 54, which boundary description for Voting Precinct No. 59 shall read as follows: Voting Precinct No. 59. Beginning at the intersection of 82nd Street and Slide Road; thence south along Slide Road to the south city limits 660 feet south of 98th Street; thence west along the south city limits to the west city limits 150 feet west of Frankford Avenue; thence north along the west city limits to its intersection with 82nd Street; thence east along 82nd Street to the point of beginning. The voting place shall be designated in the election order. SECTION 3. THAT the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended by deleting the paragraph immediately following the boundary description of Voting Precinct No. 54 and inserting immediately after the boundary description of Voting Precinct No. 59 the following paragraph: Voting Precincts No. 1 through No. 30, inclusive, and Voting Precincts No. 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54 and 59 are hereby delin- eated on the map denominated "City of Lubbock Voting Precincts, Revised October, 1979n. A copy of said map is attached to and made a part hereof as though fully copied herein in detail; An original copy of said map shall be kept in the office of the City Secretary and shall be open to public inspection, and at each special and general city election, a true copy of said map shall be furnished by the City Sec- retary to each of the presiding judges of each voting precinct. SECTION 4. THAT all portions of Article 10-6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock not hereinabove altered shall remain as they are. SECTION 5. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 6. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alter- native method as provided by law.
