HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 7918-1979 - Abandoning/Closing Poritons Of Streets, Alleys And Public Easements; Whisperwood - 09/13/1979. , If\ q J ?,' v~.19) 9-J 1-11 ORDINANCE NO. 7918 ------ AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC EASEMENTS WITHIN LOTS 7-11, INCLUSIVE, WHISPERWOOD ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC EASEMENTS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Streets, Alleys, and public easements hereinafter described are no longer needed for Street, Alley and public easement purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for Street, Alley and public easement purposes and to public use; and NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the Street, Alley and public easement portions as here- inafter described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for Street, Alley and public easement purposes and for public use: All streets, alleys and easements within the confines of Lots 7 through 11, Whisperwood Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, said confines being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Lot 9, Whisperwood Addition; THENCE North a distance of 240.00 feet; THENCE North 30° East a distance of 57.76 feet; THENCE South 60° East a distance of 101.04 feet to a point of curvature; THENCE Southeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of 317.24 feet, a central angle of 30°, tangent lengths of 85.00 feet, and a chord distance of 164.22 feet, to a point of reverse curvature; THENCE Southeasterly around a curve to the right, said curve having a radius of 15.00 feet, a central angle of 90°, tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, and a chord distance of 21.21 feet; THENCE South a distance of 167.00 feet to a point of curvature; THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the right, said curve having a radius of 15.00 feet, a central angle of 90°, tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, and a chord distance of 21.21 feet; THENCE West a distance of 275.00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. . ,,. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the Streets, Alleys and public easements described in Section 1 hereof have been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
