ORDINANCE NO. 7311
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING
PORTIONS OF STREETS: A PORTION OF 17TH STREET WHICH LIES
IMMEDIATELY EAST OF AVENUE A IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,
LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE: DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER
TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE
THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREET:
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street portions hereinafter
described are no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and,
WHEREAS, the City Councll finds it would be to the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and to public use;
and NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION I. THAT the street portions as hereinafter described shall
BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street
purposes and for public use;
A portion of 17th Street on the East side of Avenue A, said portion
being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Northeast corner of Lot l, Block 222, Original
Town of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE West along the North line of Block 2221 Original Town
of Lubbock a distance of 117. 5 feet to a point in the East right-of-
way line of Avenue A, said point being 7. 50 feet East of the
Northwest corner of said Block 222;
THENCE North a distance of 75. 00 feet to a point in the South
line of Block 206, Original Town of Lubbock1 said point being
7. 5 feet East of the Southwest corner of said mock 206;
THENCE East along the South line of Block 206, Original Town
of Lubbock a distance of 42. 5 feet;
THENCE South 45 ° East a distance of 106. 0 7 feet to the PLACE
OF BEGINNING.

SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that
the portion of street described in Section 1 hereof has been closed and
abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its
final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected
thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
