AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF EAST
47TH STREET LOCATED IN SECTION 6, BLOCK B, IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,
LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, WHICH IS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO
MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID
ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council fmds that the street portions as hereinafter
described in the body of this Ordinance are no longer needed for easement purposes and
for public use; and it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the
same for street purposes and for public use, and it would be in the public interest to close,
vacate and abandon the same; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portions as hereinafter described shall BE and the
same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use,
such street portions being more particularly described in the attached Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark
the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing,
showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary ofthe City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
' as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.

METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION for a portion of 4ih Street to be closed which is located in Section 6,
Block B, Lubbock County, Texas, and being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the West right-of-way line of Locust Avenue which bears West an approximate distance
of 1675.00 feet and North an approximate distance of 691.00 feet from the Southeast corner of Section 6,
Block B, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE Northwesterly, along a curve to the left, said curve having an approximate radius of 15.00 feet, an
approximate central angle of 90°, approximate tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, an approximate chord distance of
21.21 feet, and an approximate chord bearing of N. 45° W. to a point;
THENCE West an approximate distance of 385. i 8 feet to a point of curvature;
THENCE Northwesterly, along a curve to the right, said curve having an approximate radius of 410.70 feet, an
approximate central angle of 13°36'56", approximate tangent lengths of 49.03 feet, an approximate chord
distance of 97.37 feet, and an approximate chord bearing of N. 83°11'32" W. to a point of intersection in the
Southeasterly line of a railroad;
THENCE Northeasterly, along said line of a railroad and along a curve to the left, said curve having an
approximate radius of 409.68 feet, an approximate central angle of 14°23'13", approximate tangent lengths of
51.71 feet, an approximate chord distance of 102.60 feet, and an approximate chord bearing of N. 51°30'31" E. to
a point of intersection in said line of railroad;
THENCE Southeasterly, along a curve to the left, said curve having an approximate radius of 335.70 feet, an
approximate central angle of 2°47'45", approximate tangent lengths of 8.19 feet, an approximate chord distance
of 16.38 feet, and an approximate chord bearing of S. 88°36'07" E. to a point of tangency;
THENCE East, at approximately 100.18 feet pass the Southwest corner of Lot 3, Burlington Industrial Addition
Number Two, Lubbock County, Texas, according to the map, plat, and/or dedication deed thereof recorded in
Volume 777, Page 674, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, continuing along the South line of said Lot 3
for an approximate total distance of 385.18 feet to a point of curvature;
THENCE Northeasterly, along a curve to the left, said curve having an approximate radius of 15.00 feet, an
approximate central angle of 90°, approximate tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, an approximate chord distance of
21.21 feet, and an approximate chord bearing of N. 45° E. to a point of intersection in the West right-of-way line of
Locust Avenue;
THENCE South, along the West right-of-way line of Locust Avenue, an approximate distance of 105.00 feet to the
Point of Beginning.
