ORDINANCE NO. 8890
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTIONS OF A FILL SLOPE ON THE
NORTH SIDE OF 82ND STREET , BETWEEN QUAKER AVENUE AND MEMPHIS AVENUE IN THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN
THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE
OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND
CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the tract of land hereinafter
described is no longer needed for fill slope purposes and for public use;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for fill slope purposes and for public
use; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the tract of land used as a fill slope and
hereinafter described shall BE and the same is hereby closed, vacated and
abandoned for fill slope purposes and for public use;
A tract of land located in Section 11, Block E-2, Lubbock County,
Texas, being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point which bears N. 89°59'4011 E., 167.00 feet and N.
0°02 1 46" E. , 65 .00 feet from the Southwest corner of Section 11 , Block
E-2, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE N. 89°59'40" E. a distance of 146.00 feet to a point, said
point being on the North property line of 82nd Street and in the South
line of Lot 1, KFYO Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas; ·
THENCE S. 87°08 1 35" E., along the North property line of 82nd Street,
a distance of 200.35 feet to a point;
THENCE N. B9°59'40" E., along the North property line of 82nd Street,
a distance of 1,037.00 feet to a point, said point being the Southeast
corner of Lot 2, KFYO Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas;
THENCE N. 0°02 '46" E. , along the East line of said Lot 2 , KFYO
Addition, a distance of 75.00 feet to a point;
THENCE S. B9°59 140" W., parallel to the North property line of 82nd
Street, a distance of 533.00 feet to a point;

THENCE S. 86°44'41" W. a distance of 705.17 feet to a point;
THENCE S. 80°17'44" W. a distance of 148.14 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to indicate said
abandoning and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date
of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected
thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
