ORDINANCE NO. 7 444
AN ORDIN'ANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWIN'G POR-
iriONS OF STREET: ALL OF DRAKE STREET ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF
TRACT A~ TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK~
LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN
THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO
MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE
CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREET; PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street portion hereinafter des-
pribed are no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to
~lose, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and to public use;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portion as hereinafter described shall BE
and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes
and for public use:
All of Drake Street along the North side of Tract A,
Texas Instruments Addition to the City of Lubbock,
Lubbock,County, Texas, said Drake Street portion
being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a 3/411 iron pipe found 10.00 feet
North of the Northwest corner of Lot 1, Lawson
Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas, from
whence the Southeast corner of Section 12, Block
A. bears South, 2981. 9 feet and South 89° 53'30"
East, 226. 55 feet;
THENCE South a distance of 60. 00 feet to a point,
said point being in the West line of Lot 1, Lawson
Addition;
THENCE North 89°53'3011 West a distance of 2800. 6
feet to a point;
THENCE North a distance of 60. 00 feet to a point;
THENCE South 89°53130" East a distance of 2800.6
feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNIN'G.

SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
o mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the street des-
ribed in Section 1 hereof has been closed and abandoned, showing the number
f this Ordinance and the date of its passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, s entence, phrase,
lause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for
y reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed
o cause publication of ile descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alterna-
ive method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
