AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
ALBANY AVENUE LOCATED IN SECTION 27, BLOCK E-2, LUBBOCK COUNTY,
TEXAS, WHICH IS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS
ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL
MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that portions of the street hereinafter
described in the body of this Ordinance are no longer needed for street purposes and for
public use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close,
vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public use; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portion as hereinafter described shall BE and the
same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use,
such street is more particularly described as follows:
METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION of a 0.212 portion of an acre tract of
land, also being a portion of Albany Avenue, located in Section 27, Block E-2,
Lubbock County, Texas, being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a Yz'' iron rod with cap set for the most Westerly Northwest
corner of this tract which bears N. 89°57'50" W. a distance of 1321.38 feet and S.
00°02'20" E. a distance of 115.29 feet from the Northeast corner of Section 27,
Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE Northeasterly, around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of
230.00 feet, a central angle of 25°07'10", a chord distance of 100.03 feet, and a
chord bearing of N. 17°36'31" E. to a "cross" cut in concrete for the most
Northerly Northwest corner of this tract;
THENCE S. 89°00'55" E. a distance of 0.89 feet to a Yz'' rod found at the
Northwest corner of Lot 2, Sentry Park, an addition to the City of Lubbock,
Lubbock County, Texas, according to the map, plat and/or dedication deed thereof
recorded in Volume 1471, Page733, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas,
and the Northeast corner of this tract;
THENCE S. 00°00'30" W., along the West line of said Lot 2, Sentry Park, a
distance of 415.08 feet to a Yz'' iron rod with cap set for the Southeast corner of
this tract;

THENCE Northwesterly, around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of
541.30 feet, a central angle of 12°02'05", a chord distance of 113.49 feet, and a
chord bearing ofN. 16°03'53" W. to a W' iron rod with cap set for the Southwest
corner of this tract;
THENCE N. 00°05'09" E. a distance of 210.69 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark
the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing,
showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
