AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF STREETS
AND ALLEYS IN THE AVALON ADDITION: PORTIONS OF YONKERS DRIVE AND YORK ROAD
EAST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF SLIDE ROAD TO NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF LOOP 289;
PORTION OF 64TH STREET BETWEEN YORK DRIVE AND YORK ROAD; ,\LL OF THE ALLEY IN
BLOCKS 10 AND 11 OF SAID AVALON ADDITION; A PORTION OF ALLEY IN BLOCK 9 OF
SAID AVALON ADDITION AS HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED IN BODY HEREOF; ALL OF SAID
PORTIONS OF STREETS AND ALLEYS AS AFORESAID BEING LOCATED IN THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BOnY
OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF
THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THOSE CERTAIN
ALLEYS AND STREETS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
I~EREAS, the City Council finds that the alley and street portions here-
inafter described are no longer needed for alley and street purposes and for
public use; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for alley and street purposes and to pub-
lic use; and NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the alley and street portions all being located in Lub-
bock, Lubbock County, Texas, as hereinafter described shall BE and the same
are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for alley and street purpose and
for public use as hereinafter indicated, to-wit:
A, That portion of street described as that part of Yonkers Drive
which lies between the East Right-of-Way Line of Slide Road
and the North Right-of-Way Line of Loop 289.
B. That portion of street described as that part of York Road which
lies between the East Right-of-Way Line of Slide Road and the
North Right-of-Way Line of Loop 289.
C. That portion of street described as that part of 64th Street which
lies between York Drive and York Road,
D. All of the alleys in Block 10 and 11, Avalon Addition.
E. A portion of alley in Block 9, Avalon Addition, being more
particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the most westerly point of Lot 1, Block 9,
Avalon Addition, said point also being in the South Right-
of-Way line of 62nd Street;

THENCE Southeasterly, along the Northeast line of said
alley, a distance of 258.53 feet to a point;
THENCE Southwesterly a distance of 20.00 feet to a point
in the Southwest line of said alley;
THENCE Nortbtvesterly along the Southt.rest line of said
alley a distance of 270.29 feet to a point in the South
Right-of-Way line of 62nd Street;
THENCE East a distance of 28.28 feet to the PLACE OF
BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAr the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed
to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portions
of streets and alleys described in Section 1 hereof have been closed and aban-
doned~ showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for
any reason~ the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed
to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an altern
tive method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
Passed by the Council on first reading this 11th day of September. 1975.
Passed by the Council on second reading this 22 day of September, 1977.
