ORDINANCE NO. 8911 ------
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF
LUBBOCK, ENTITLED "BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS;" BY AMENDING THE
PLUMBING CODE AND THE MECHANICAL CODE BY ADDING A REQUIREMENT THAT LICENSE
NUMBERS BE DISPLAYED; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the proposed amendments to· the Plumbing Code and the Mechani-
cal Code have been recommended by the Plumbing and Mechanical Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has found the proposed amendments to be in
the best interest of the publl~ health, safety and general welfare of the
citizens of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock, Texas, is
hereby amended by adding a section, to be numbered 6-85, which said section
reads as follows:
"Sec. 6-85. Display of license number required.
(a) All trucks or other vehicles used by any licensed master
plumber, in the performance of his business, excluding vehicles used
primarily for "non-business" use, shall have, placed upon both sides
of such vehicle in a permanent manner, the license number of the
master plumber, in numbers a minimum height of two (2) inches in
size.
(b) Each licensed master plumber shall include upon every bill,
statement, or letter issued or sent by said plumber, his license
number.
(c) Every licensed master plumber shall include his license
number on all printed or written advertising used or employed by said
plumber."
SECTION 2. THAT the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock, Texas, is
hereby amended by adding a section, to be numbered 6-107, which said
section reads as follows:
"Sec. 6-107. Display of license number required.
(a) All trucks or other vehicles used by any licensed air
conditioning contractor, in the performffilCe of his business, excluding
vehicles used primarily for "non-business" use, shall have, placed

upon the left-hand side of such vehicle in a permanent manner, the
license number of the licensed air conditioning contractor, in numbers
a minimum height of two (2) inches in size.
(b) Each licensed air conditioning contractor shall include upon
every bill, statement, or letter issued or sent by said contractor,
his license number.
(c) Every licensed air conditioning contractor shall include his
license number on all printed or written advertising used or employed
by said contract."
SECTION 3. THAT violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be
deemed a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars
as provided in Sections 6-81.2 (as renumbered in Ord. 08857) and 6-103 of
the City Code.
SECTION 4. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 5. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative
method provided by law.
