MH:tc First Reading January 9, 1986 Agenda Iten #31 Second Reading January 23; 1986 Agenda Item #9 ORDINANCE NO. 8873 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 27 Of THE CODE Of ORDINANCES, CITY Of LUBBOCK, (ENTITLED "VEHICLES fOR HIRE") BY AMENDING SECTIONS 27-55 AND 27-112 BY CHANGING THE MINIMUM AMOUNTS Of LIABILITY AND PROPERTY INSURANCE REQUIRED, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING fOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the changes indicated below would be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock, NOW THEREfORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY Of LUBBOCK, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT Section 27-55 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 27-55. Same-amounts. The minimum amounts of liability and property damage insurance required shall be the following sums: 1) for damages arising out of bodily injury to or death of one person in any one accident ••••••••••••••••••• $ 20,000.00. 2) for damages arising out of bodily injury or death of two (2) or more persons in any one accident •••••• $ 40,000.00. 3) for injury to or destruction of property in any one accident ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• $ 20,000.00. SECTION 2. THAT Section 27-112 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas is hereby amended to read as follow: "Sec. 27-112. Same-amounts. The minimum amounts of public liability and property damage insurance required under this article shall be the following sums: 1) for damages arising out of bodily injury to or death of any one person in any one accident ••••• $ 20,000.00. 2) for damages arising out of bodily injury to or death of two (2) or more persons in any one accident ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• $ 40,000.00 3) for injury to or destruction of property in any one accident ••• ~ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• $ 20,000.00. SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of the Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
