HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2012-O0083 - Amending The FY 2011-12 Budget For Municipal Services. - 08/09/2012First Reading August 9, 2012 Item No. 5.2 ORDINANCE NO. 2012-00083 Second Reading August 23, 2012 Item No. 6.14 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FY 2011-12 BUDGET FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES RESPECTING THE GRANT FUND TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE FUNDING FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) FOR THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG); AND TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR THE EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT (ESG), GRANT NO. 80046. WHEREAS, Section I 02.0 IO of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas authorizes the City Council to make changes in the budget for municipal purposes; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Budget Ordinance the City Council shall approve all transfers between funds and departments; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to change the FY 2011-12 Budget for municipal purposes and reallocate funds as follows; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION I. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby approves changes to the City of Lubbock Budget FY 2011-12 (Budget Amendment #22) for municipal purposes, as follows: I. Accept and appropriate $169,091 from the DOJ for the Edward Byrne Memorial JAG to fund the Lubbock County Joint Enforcement Initiative Program. II. Accept and appropriate an additional $57,162 from HUD for the ESG, for a total grant appropriation of $ I 58,783. The ESG provides assistance to homeless individuals and families through the Rapid Re-housing Program in the form of rent and utility assistance. SECTION 2. THAT a copy of the changes made to the City of Lubbock Budget pursuant to this Ordinance shall be filed with the City Secretary and County Clerk of Lubbock as required by law. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be aftected thereby.
