HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 7687-1978 - Ordinance Amending Section No. 18-91 Of Code Of Ordinances City Parking Hours - 06/22/1978I\ Cl I r f V .,,J f 6,o,V I JWF:bsb ORDINANCE NO. 7687 _,_,_ \ ..... / AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION NO. 18-91 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK SO AS TO REVISE LIMITED PARKING HOURS AND PROCEDURES AS SET FORTH IN THE BOD OF THIS ORDINANCE, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY AND PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that there is a public need and improvement of traffic safety requires that limited parking hours and procedures be revised as here inafter set forth; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 18--91 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock is am.ended in its entirety to read hereafter as follows: "Upon any written request filed with and approved by the City Traffic Engineering Director for a limited time parking from the owner and/or ten- ants of commercial property, government, public and semi-public facilities abutting a public street on one side of any block for a minimum distance of at least one hundred and fifty feet (150') and such a request represents eighty percent (80%) o~ more of the street frontage proposed to be placed in a limited time parking zone, the City Traffic ~ngineer~ng Director shall mark or cause the mark~ng of such limited time parking zone with appropriate signs indicating fifteen minutes, thirty minutes, one hour, or two hour park- ing limits, as the case might be, or if it is determined that one of the above parking limits is not satisfactory to the affected abutting property owners or tenants, the application shall be referred to the City Council for disposition. Said parking limits shall be effective between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5 :00 p .m., or as determined by the Traffic E_ngineeri_ng Director, except Sundays and City holidays, and said parking limits shall be effective only on school days if in the vicinity of a school area. If residential property abuts or adjoins or is affected by any parking limita- tions from the commercial property, governmental, public, and semi-public facilities, the owners and/or tenants of said residential property may join in an application for limited time parking under the same terms and regula- tions which control limited time parking in the commercial property, govern- mental, public, and semi-public facility, areas." SECTION 2. THAT any person, firm or corporation violating the parking limits established pursuant to this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS. SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause the publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty provision as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
