AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AS A ONE-WAY ALLEY FOR VEHICULAR TRAFFIC THE
EAST-WEST ALLEY BETWEEN 58TH STREET AND 60TH STREET EXTENDING FROM ELGIN AVENUE
TO CANTON AVENUE AS DESCRIBED HEREIN; DESIGNATING THE DIRECTION OF VEHICULAR
TRAFFIC; AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF SIGNS; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING THAT ALLEYS NOT SPECIFICALLY SET
FORTH HEREIN SHALL NOT BE AFFECTED BY THE PROVISIONS HEREOF AND THAT THIS
,ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF ALL OTHER ONE-WAY ALLEY ORDINANCES; PROVIDING
jA SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that, due to increased traffic in the
'East-West alley inunediately South of Parsons Elementary School, a hazardous
and unsafe condition exists that requires such alley to be designated a one-
way alley for vehicular traffic; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the East-West alley lying immediately North of and
abutting Lots 603 to 615, Block E-2, Caprock Addition of the City of Lubbock,
Lubbock County, Texas, between 58th Street and 60th Street, extending from
Elgin Avenue to Canton Avenue, BE and the same is hereby designated as a one-
way alley for vehicular traffic with the entrance to said alley to be made
only from Elgin Avenue and the direction of travel shall be East to Canton
Avenue.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager is authorized and directed to cause
the placing of signs so as to clearly indicate the direction of traffic as
set out in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. THAT any person, firm or corporation operating a vehicle
in violation of the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be
punished by a fine not to exceed TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the
penalty provision as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
SECTIONS. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances conflicting
with any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict
exists.
~ECTION 6. THAT all alleys not specifically set forth in the preceding
sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions hereof, and this
Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other one-way alley ordinances except
those with which it specifically conflicts.

SECTION 7. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase
. or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
