AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CODE OF ORDI-
NANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK> TEXAS, ENTITLED "PEDDLERS AND
SOLICITORS, 11 BY PROVIDING FOR APPLICATION FOR A PEDDLER1S
LICENSE; PROVIDING FOR REVOCATION OF SUCH LICENSE; PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that a need exists for
additional regulations governing peddlers to protect the citizens of the City of
Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
"' SECTION 1. THAT Section 21-1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Lubbock, Texas, BE and. is hereby amended by adding thereto new paragraphs
which shall read as follows:
"Application shall be made by the persons requesting a
license upon forms available in the office of the City Tax
Collector. Such application shall require the name, address
and occupation of the applicant, the product to be sold and
such other information as may be required to complete an
investigation as to the fitness of the applicant. All appli-
cations shall be approved by the Chief of Police before a
license is granted.
"Any such license granted to any· person is issued with
the express provision that the licensee shall not make any
false or fraudulent representation as to the product to be
sold or his authority to sell such product. "
SECT.ION. 2. THAT Chapter 21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Lubbock, Texas, BE and is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section ....
21-5. 1, which shall read as follows:
"Section 21-5.1. Revocation of License.
The City Tax Assessor .. Collector, upon investigation by
the Chief of Police, is authorized to revoke the peddler1s
license of any person found to be misrepresenting or making
false statements in regard to the product he is attempting
to sell, his authority to sell such product, or if the conduct
of such person during selling endangers the safety, health
or property of the citizens of the City. 11

SECTION 3. Should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of
this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remain ...
der of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause the
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
provided by law.
