AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ALTERING AND CHANGING OF THE
RIMA FAClE SPEED LIMIT FOR ALL VEHICLES ON THE FOLLOWING STREET
N THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF CITY OF LUBBOCK, L~OCK COUNTY~ TE
TO-WIT: PORTIONS OF 82ND STREET; A 35M. P. H. SPEED ZONE ON BOTH
IDES OF 29TH DRIVE BETWEEN 34TH STREET AND SLIDE ROAD; A 35 M.P. H.
SPEED ZONE ON BOTH SIDES OF 29TH STREET BETWEEN SLIDE ROAD AND
CHICAGO A VENUE; AND A 35 M.P. H. SPEED ZONE ON BOTH SIDES OF
UNICIPAL DRIVE BEGINNING AT THE AMARILLO HIGHWAY (U. S. 87) AND
XTENDING EAST TO NORTH QUIRT A VENUE; AUTHORIZING THE PLACING OF
PEED LIMIT SIGNS; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATIO
EPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING THAT
TREETS OR HIGHWAYS NOT SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH HEREIN SHALL NOT
E AFFECTED BY THE PROVISIONS HEREOF AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE
SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF ALL OTHER PRIMA FAClE SPEED LIMIT ORDIN-
NCES EXCEPT THOSE WITH WHICH IT SPECIFICALLY CONFLICTS; PRO-
VIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF
THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lubbock, as authorized by
ticle 6701d, Section 169(b) Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, finds that certain
prima facie speed limits on certain highways are different from what is reason-
able or safe and should be altered as hereinafter set forth, NOW THEREFORE:
E IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. The prima facie speed limit established by Article 6701d,
Section 166(a)(l)--Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes is altered and changed for all
vehicles on the following designated highways or streets in the corporate limits
of the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas:
Portion I:
Portion II:
Portion III:
Portion IV:
82ND STREET
A 55 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the North side of 82nd Street,
beginning at University Avenue and extending West to a
point 11 320 feet East of Slide Road.
A 45 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the North side of 82nd Street
beginning 1, 320 feet East of Slide Road and extending West
to the intersection of Slide Road.
A 60 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the North side of 82nd Street
beginning at Slide Road and extending West to the West
City Limits.
A 60 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the South side of 82nd Street
beginning at the West City Limits and extending East to a

A 45 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the South side of 82nd Street
beginning at a point 1. 32.Q feet West of the intersection of

beginning at the intersection of Slide Road and extending
East to a point 1, 320 feet West of the intersection of
University Avenue.
A 45 M.P. H. Speed Zone on the South side of 82nd Street
beginning at a point 1. 320 feet West of the intersection of
University Avenue and extending East to University Avenue
29TH DRIVE
A 35 M.P. H. Speed Zone on both sides of 29th Drive be-
tween 34th Street and Slide Road.
29TH STREET
A 35 M.P. H. Speed Zone on both sides of 29th Street be-
tween Slide Road and Chicago Avenue.
MUNICIPAL DRIVE
A 35 M.P. H. Speed Zone on both sides of Municipal Drive
beginning at the Amarillo Highway (U. S. 87) and exten-
ding East to North Quirt Avenue.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
lacing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas set out
· n this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. Any person., firm. or corporation violating the prima facie
peed limit established by this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined any sum
ot to exceed TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200. 00).
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause the
ublication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty
san alternative method of publication as provided by law.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances conflicting with
ny of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists.

SECTION 6. That all highways or streets not specifically set forth in
the preceding sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions hereof, and
this Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other prima facie speed limit ordinances
except those with which it specifically conflicts.
SECTION 7. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause> phrase
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason,
the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 8. This Ordinance shall become effective ten (10) days after
the date of its last publication.
