HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 5643-1969 - Ordinance Abandoning And Closing A Portion Of The Original Quaker Avenue - 04/10/196904 -1o-toq 0 iP -J;l-lQq ORDINANCE NO. 5643 _..;;....;;,_;,~--- ' ("' AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THE ORIGINAL QUAKER AVENUE AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF ~HIS ORDINANCE; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE A CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THE PORTION OF SAID STREET; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a portion of the original Quaker Avenue, located south of Loop 289 within the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, as hereinafter more particularly described, is no longer needed for street purposes or for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon same for street purposes and to public use; NOW THEREFORE# BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the portion of the original Quaker Avenue situated south of Loop 289 within the City of Lubbock asilereinafter described be and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use; said portion being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the south right of way line of Loop 289, said point being 1904. 1 feet south 0°03' east from the northeast corner of Section 10, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas, and on the east line of said Section 10 and the west line of Section 11 of said Block E-2; THENCE south 89 °57' west, 20. 0 feet to a point; THENCE south 0°03' east, parallel to and 20.0 feet ·west from the section line of said Sections 10 and 11, 876. 13 feet to a point on the northeast right of way line of the revised alignment of Quaker Avenue; THENCE southeasterly along the right of way curve of said Quaker Avenue, the center of said curve bears south 64 °11 12311 west 805. 0 feet from the beginning of this call, at 49. 16 feet crossing the common section line, in all 107. 09 feet to a point 20. 0 feet east of said common section line; THENCE north 0°031 west, parallel to and 20.0 feet east from the common section line of said Sections 10 and 11, Block E-2, 975. 39 feet to a point on the south right of way line of said Loop 289; THENCE south 89°571 west 20.0 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of Lubbock to indicate that the portion of the street as described in Section 1 hereof has been closed and abandoned showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of final passage. SECTION 3. Should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the re- mainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publica tion of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method pro- vided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
