HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2373-1957 - Amending Zoning Ordinance 1695. - 12/05/1957·-' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1695 OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK BY ADDING A NEW SUBDIVISION TO BE DESIGNATED SUBDIVISION "11.1-1711 SO AS TO ESTABLISH FAMILY-BUNDLE TYPE LAUNDRIES AS A PERMITTED USE IN A "C-311 ZONING DISTRICT; PROVID- ING A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, the matter of considering what Zoning District should be prescribed for allowing family-bundle type laundries has been referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their recommendation and report; which recommendation and report was received by the City Commission; and, WHEREAS, after consideration of said report the City Commission finds it would be to the public safety, health, and general welfare to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 1695 as hereafter set forth in the body of this Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION I. THAT Ordinance No,. 1695(being an appendix to the Lubbock City Code of 1955} BE and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new subdivis~on to be designated as subdivision 11 11.1-17" which shall read as follows: 11 11.., 1 Uses Permitted 11. 1-17. Family-Bundle Laundry where laundry and/or dry cleaning service is limited to individual families and/or persons, and small businesses in the vicinity, on a retail basis; provided that no wholesale, group, and/ or bulk service shall be permitted, such as but not limited to laundry and/or dry cleaning service for hotels, military service installations, universities, colleges, motels, and/or hospitals; and further provided that the area of the family-bundle laundry establish- ment exclusive of office space shall not exceed five thousand (5, 000} square fee'!;.. no steam to be permitted to escape to outside of building." SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200. 00). SECTION 3. The City Secretary-Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly published in the City of Lubbock, and this Ordinance shall become effective ten days after its last publication. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
