AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 OF OR:DINANCE NO. 564,
ESTABLISHING A ONE-HOUR PARKING METER ZONE; AUTHORIZING
INSTALLATION OF PARKING METERS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF MAIN
STREET IN THE 1300 BLOCK; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINAN-
CES; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission}has, as a result of changed tr~ffic
conditions, adopted a recommendation of the City Traffic Engineer to estab-
lish a parking meter zone .on the North side of Main Street in the 1300 Block;
THEREFORE,
BE. IT .ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 564 is hereby amended so
as to change and modi~y the parking on the streets hereinafter referred to with
the following provisions:
A. A parking meter zone is hereby designated and established in the
Citty of Lubbock, Texast said parking meter zone shall embrace that
part of the streets hereinafter designated, which shall limit the
time of parking as follows, to-wit:
ONE HOUR PARKING--PARALLEL PARKING: The North side of
Main Street in the 1300 Block.
.SECTION z. City Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
cause Parking Meters Nos., 11·13-2, 11-13-4, 11-13-6, 11-13-8, 11-13-10,
11-13-lZ, 11-13-14, 11-13-16, 11-13-18, arid :.tl-13-ZO to be placed on that
portion of the street designated in Section I (One) of this Ordinance, said park-
ing meters designating the kind of parking provided on that part a£ the street
~esignated in Section 1 (One) of this Ordinance; and the City Traffic Engineer
is further authorized and directed to cause lines indicating the kind of parking
provided therein to be placed on that portion of the street designated in
Section 1 (One} of this Ordinance.
·-. SECTION 3. That any part of the provision of any ordinance or order in
conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Any person. firm or corporation who shall violate, aid or
abet the violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be
fined in any sum not to exceed .$ZOO. 00.
SEC'FION 5. The City Secretary is hereby directed to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty clause asan
alternative method as provided by law.
SECTION 6. That the enactment of this Ordinance, being necessary to
the public safety and to provide for a greater use of the public streets and due
to the changing traffic conditions~ is declared to be an emergency measure,
thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances

to be presented at two (2) separate meetings be dispensed with and this
·ordinance shall be effective from the date of publication as herein provided.

On motion of Commissioner CarPenter , seconded by Commis-
sioner Thomas , the foregoing Ordinance was passed by the City
Commission on this 25th day of Se_ptember , 1952, by the following
vote:
