AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE LEFT TURN OF VEHICLES FROM COI.I.,IDE AVJ!NUE
ONTO BROADWAY; PROHIBITING . THE LEFT TURN OF VEHICLES FROM COLLEGE AVENUE ONTO THE
COLLIDE CAMPUS AT BROADWAY; PROVIDING A .PENALTY; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND
DEX:JLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, due to changing traffic conditions, the City Commission has
accepted a recommendation of the City Traff&c Engineer in prohibiting left turns
from College Avenue onto Broadwa~ and from College Avenue onto the College Campus
at Broadway; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY '!HE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1: It shall be unlawful for any person operating a vehicle to
make a left turn at the following locationss
A. College Avenue onto Broadway,
B. College Avenue onto the Texas Technological College Campus at
Broadway.
SECTION 2: Upifor.m traffic control devices shall be placed at proper
locations at such intersection indicating that no left turn shall be made.
SECTION J: Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be fined in any sum. not exceeding $200.00.
SECTION 4: That part of any Ordinance in conflict with this Qrdinance
is hereb,y repealed provided, however, that this Ordinance shall not repeal nor be
construed as affecting any ordinance duly authorizing the placement of traffic
control lights and stop signa.
SECTION 5; The City Secretary is hereb,y directed to cause publication
of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty claMse as
an a1 terna ti ve method as provided by law.
SECTION 6; That due to the changing traffic condition~ creating a
hazard injurious to the public and the publiols use of the streets, the enactment
of this Ordinance is declared to be an emergenoy measure, thereby creating a ~bli~
necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2}
separate meetings be dispensed with and this Ordinance shall be effective from date
of publication as herein provided.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
