HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 0994-1950 - Ordinance Describing Holidays For The Calendar Year. - 05_25_1950No Text 0 0 ~tfo. __ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CO~OOISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: That the following days are hereby declared holidays for all permanent City employees, SUBJECT HOWEVER to the limitations herein stated: (1) The first day of January (New Year*s Day).' (2) The 4th day of July (Independence Day). (.J) The first Monday in September (Labor Da4''). ·.(""'_.!!'he 11th day of November (Armistice Day). (:5) The last Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day). ·· ( 6) The 25th day of December (Christmas Day). (7) Any other holiday designated by the Governing Body. (8) When any holiday listed above falls on a Sunday, the following business day shall be considered as a holiday. :~:.the : designation of the foregoing days as holidays shall not ·be construed as entitling any such employee to observe such holiday, or the right to be absent from his duty on the dates specified, except as hereinafter provided. SECTION I. Department heads shall authorize holidays on the dates above set out unless to do so will unreasonably interrere with the necessary public service being rendered by such department. Any emp- loyee required to be on duty on any such holiday shall be entitled to a day off within 30 days from such holiday and at a time satisfactory to the department head. SECTION II. When employees·working on a shift arrangement in the Fire, Police, Water, Electric, and Sewage Disposal Departments, have been employed by the City of Lubbock for s.ix months or more, in lieu of the above holidays, the department head shall schedule the dates when such employees shall observe such holidays, such schedule to provide one day off every 60 days in a calendar year.
