A 11Mastor Plumbortt t.ri thin tho meaning of this OrdiDnnco is a plumber having a regular pl~ce of business, who, by himself, or through a person or persons in his employ, performs plumbing work, and who has successfully fulfilled the examinations ~nd requirements under tho Plmbing Liconse L"lv of 1947, and runendmonts. Paragraph 1-1-3. JOtm.NE"~iAN PLTl1BER. t.,. ''Journeyman Plumbor11 within the moaning of this Ordinance is any porson other than a mastor plumber who engages in or works at the actual install~tion, nltor~tion, repair and ronov~ting of plumbing, and who has successfully fulfillod the examinations and requirements under the Plumbing Liconso Law of 1947, and amendments. Paragraph 1-1-4. PLl..lHBEn' S APPRENTICE. A 11Plumbcr' s Approntico11 within tho moaning of this Ordinnnco is any person othor than n master plumber or journeyman plumbor who, as his principal occupation, is ongagod in looming and .assisting in the inst~llation of plumbing. Parograph l-1-5. PLUHBING INSl'ECTOH. A 11Plumbing Inspector" within the meaning of this Ordinance is nny person ~ployed by the City or Lubbock for tho purpose of inspecting plumbing work and installations in connection with health and safoty laws and ordin~ncos, nnd who has suc- cessfully fulfilled tho ox~.m1inntions ~nd requirements under tho Plumbing Liconso Law ot 1947, end cmondmonts. Section 2-4 -MASTER GAS FITTER'S BOND AND APPLIA!JCE DEALER Paragraph 2-4-1. OOND AND APPROVAL. No person shall enter upon the installation, construction, reconstruction, or repair of such gas piping, appliances, fixtures or apparatus or any change thereof, (nor shall any person undertake for any other parson, firm or corporation, tho adjustment thereof) until tho said individual shall have delivered to the City of Lubbock a good and sufficient suroty bond in tho sum of Ono Thousand ( #1000. 00) Dollars to be approved by tho City Attorney of the City of Lubbock, suoh surety shall be a surety company duly authorized to do business in tho State of Texas conditionod for tho faithful performance of all such vork ontored upon or contracted for in strict aocord~nco and compliance with tho terms, requirements and provisions of this ordinance and such further and future ordin'-ncos of tho City ~ Lubbock as ma:r be hereafter passed. No building, other st- ructure or premises shall bo piped or fittGd for gas, water or sower con- nection, nor s~all any rcp~irs be made to any such piping, nor fittings ba placed, nor fixtures addod unless n parmi t shall first bo granted therefor by the Plumbing Inspector. Applic~tirm for permits for gas piping or the installation of gas nppliances orgas heatei equipment re- quiring permits or the installation or construction of plumbing or plumbing fixturos or for sewer connections shall be furnished by the Plumbing In- spector or his authorizcq repro~entativcs. Ho shall also npprovo and countersign all applications for sower connections boforo tho permits therefor t!!hall be issued. Tho applicatir-n for a pemit for the placing of piping or fixtures as herein provided for tho inspection of such work shall givo tho correct location, nsmo and nddross of tho owner of such building, and a full and ccmplota statement of the number of openings f0r gas or water and the purpose said instollation work is tq perform, together ~th a list of tho fixtures, sower connection~, oto., with n complete plan thereof (if roqu1rod by tho Plumbing Inspector), which sh~ll bo subject to the approval of the Pl~bing Inspoct~r and shall conform to ~11 provisions re- lating to Plumbing. The main supply to any bAth room shall not oo smaller than three-quarter (J/4") inch pipe. Not oore than 2 fixtures shall be supplied by 1/211 pipo. Paragraph 3-.3-4. FIXTURE SUPPLY PIPE. The supply pipe to all fixtures shall be provided with separate stop cocks with renawable discs, this however, is not required of any fixture in one familY residonoe except the closets. Slip joints will not bo allowed on any supply up to this stop. Paragraph 3-3-5. HOT WATER CONNECTIONS. Connactions to and from hot water heaters must not be 8rlallar than three-quarters inah pipe size. Hot water pipe to be run three-fourths inch to tee for sink bronch or f'irst _ fixture. Paragraph 3-3-6. REAMING PIPE. All water and gas pipe shall be woll reamed. The City Plumbing Inspector or his assistants may require a section of pipe or fittings to bo removed so that he may see if same is properly reamed. The work shall be done at the expanse ot the person '111 persons in- stalling such pipos. Every building in vhich a vater closet is installed shall have at least one three-inch soil pipe waste and/or Type "L" Copper vent stack extending through tho roof at least one foot and three inches, (this clause need not app~ to sorvantsl quarters or garages on rear of lot where same is within twenty-five feot of house drain or house sever), and for every branch of twenty-five feet or more in length, serving a water closet, measuring from fixture outlet to inter- section of main house drain, vent from same shall oxtend full size to main stack, or through the roof. Where conditions require a fivo or six inch drain or waste pipe within the building, then there ·shall be a five or six inch vent pipe carried out through roof unless the area ot ventilation from the various vents is eq~~l to or greater than that of tho main line. Paragraph 3-3-8. JR.AINAGE AND WASTE n~ APARTMENTS. On apartments or rooming houses where the architoct designs two bath tubs "back to back" or· nend to end" and the construction of drainage will require en extra branch, a two inch waste and vent will sarva for t\,ro tubs and two lavatories on continuous system. Paragraph 3-3-9. HORIZONTAL WASTE PIPES. A cleanout shall be placed at the base of each sink stack. No sink waste cleanouts will be permitted under any building, same shall be brought through wall in full viev. All drain and vaste pipes constructed under concrete floors must bo provided with accessible cleanouts every 50 feet and at end of each branch. House sewer connections shall not be made to any City ~anhole or a cleanout stack. No rainwater, downs,outs, area, yard, street, gutter, or sub-surface drains will be permitted to connect with any sanitary sewer. The City Sewr Department shall bo all times have the right to close up or disconnect from the City Sanitary seweraffO system, any private house sewer \Jhich is u~ed for the purpose of carrying foreign wnter into the said sanitar.y sewer. All joints or connections between cast iron soil pipe and threaded pipo must be caulked joints and cast iron couplings must be caulked into hub connections where pipe size is smaller·thon two inches. BAR AND SODA FOUNI'AIN l\ASTE CONNECTIONS., Soda Fountain wastes, ox where a combination o£ bar sink waste openings exceed·aix in number, the waste shall not be smaller than three (3") inches in diameter and the grease trap shall not be less than 20tt x 20" or equal capacity, and' where traps are located directly UDder bars or counters, bar or fountain sinke need not be separately tr&pped. Otherwise, each fixture shall be trapped and a relief ..ent placed between bar fixtures and grease trap at aey point on waste line to avoid "air lock." No blow-orr catch basins will be permitted tor greese traps. Paragraph 3 .. 3-24. WASTE PIPE FFIDM KITCHEN SINKS. Waste pipe from kitchen sinks in d~ hotel, restaurant, boardicg house, or other public cooking plaeee must be run into a grease trap mado of cast iron~ concrete or tile when used outside of building and vith a romovacle cover. Grease trap for one sink to be not lass thon 1211 x 8", 1011 deep or equal with 1-1/2 inch waste. For two to four sinks or two to four compartment sinks the grease trap is to be 19" x 11-1/2", 12" deep or equal with two-inch waste. Traps end waste sizes to increase with the number of sinks connected. All sink lines to have a clean- out. No waste pipe to bo less than ono and one-half inches. No additional traps sh:lll be used undor fixtures unless air-relief vent is used between traps. Paragraph 3-3-25. WASTE PIPE FRCM DENTAL CUSPIDOR. Waste pipe f'rom dental cuspidor m~ be connected with XH lead drum trap with one and one- half inch outlet tor one to four cuspidors, two inches outlet for five to twenty cuspidors. Paragraph .3-3-26. TRAPS IN GENERAL. Traps shall be made of brass, cast iron, or extra hoavy lead. Traps shall be ploood as near to fixture as poss- ible.
