T e"os January 9, 1950 PHON£ 3·1421 Jirst, I wish to thank you for the courtesy shown us regarding the parking situation in the 1600 block on 19th street. Since we are in the retail business and confronted with all dar parkers coming from Stanolind Oil & Pipe Line Co. , Veterans Administration, !laxey Lamber Co., Halsey Drug Co., and Baynes & Kirby Archi- tects, who occupy the upper story over oar location at 1631 19th st. There 1s b·ut little time during the hours, which we are open, that a customer could find a parking place to leave ~iB car while looking at stoves, refrigera- tors, ete. As explained to you while here the other day, I am furnishing a 1::8rking lot across the street and west of the Stano lind Pipe Line Co. for these parkers, in order to, keep a portion of our front open to our customers. In this connection, a large part of these people have proven to be cooperative, while the other part continue to use our front for all day parking. Mr. Kittrell, I am of the opinion this situation can be overcome by having our curbs 1n this block, on both aides at the street, painted yellow ar your caution color, stamping on the curbs "One hour parking-b)' order of Police "• In this connection, should some of these all day parkers still not see fit to cooperate, we will be only to glad to call your office and ask you to please check and tag this type of :parking customers. I feel that a few :parking violation tiokets will do a great deal to clear this situation. S E E T H E N 0 R G E B E F 0 R E y 0 u 6 u y ....
