Abandoning And Closing A Portion Of 7Th Street Between Ave. T & U - 05/14/1985HW:js June 14, 1985 Agenda Item #23 First Reading April 24, 1986 Agenda Item #5 Second Reading ORDINANCE NO. 8781 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF 7TH STREET BETWEEN AVENUES T AND U IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONING AND CLOSING; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. ll WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portions hereinafter I . i 1-•' I ., •' fi II :: ~ . ,, r H . I j !· ~ ~ ~ I I I described are no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and to public use; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: and and SECTION 1. THAT the street portions .as hereinafter described shall BE the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes for public use: A portion of 7th Street, lying between Blocks 36 and 37, Overton Addition to the City of lubbock, lubbock County, Texas, and being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a 1/2" iron rod, set at the Northwest corner of Block 37, Overton Addition of Lubbock, for the Southwest and beginning corner of this description; THENCE North 60.0 feet to a 1/2" iron rod, set at the Southwest corner of Block 36, Overton Addition of lubbock, for the Northwest corner of this description; THENCE East, along the South line of Block 36, Overton Addition of lubbock, 600.0 feet to a 1/2" iron rod, for the Northeast corner of this description; THENCE South 60.00 feet to a 1/2" iron rod, set for the Southeast corner of this description; THENCE West, along the North line of Block 37, Overton Addition of lubbock, 600.00 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official maps of the City of lubbock to indicate said abandon- ing and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid !I for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. I SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law.
