ORDINANCE NO. SGJ? -------
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF 59TH STREET, EAST OF
SLIDE ROAD, AND A 20-FOOT ALLEY IN BLOCK B, PIEDMONT ADDITION TO THE CITY
OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE
BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL
MAPS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT ANO CLOSING;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street and alley portions
hereinafter described are no longer needed for street and alley purposes
and for public use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for street and alley purposes and for
public use; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY Or LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street and alley portions as hereinafter
described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned
for street and alley purposes and for public use;
TRACT ONE
A portion of 59th Street located in the Southwest Quarter of Section
9, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas, being further described as
follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Lot 17, Block 1, Piedmont
Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE South a distance of 50.00 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 16.70 feet;
THENCE Northerly around a curve to t~e right, said curve having a
radius of 50.00 feet, a central angle of 60°, tangent lengths of 28.87
feet, and a chord distance of 50.00 feet;
THENCE West a distance of 16.70 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
TRACT TWO
A 20-foot alley located in Block e, Piedmont Addition to the City of
Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of lot 1, Block 8, Piedmont Addition
to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;

THENCE East a distance of 600.00 feet;
THENCE South a distance of 20.00 feet;
THENCE West a distance of 600.00 feet;
THENCE North a distance of 20.00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to indicate said
abandoning and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date
of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected
thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
Passed by the City Council on first reading this 12th day of July
1984.
Passed by the City Council on second reading this 26th day of July
1984.
