AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE COD
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS .. ENTITLED 11TEXAS
ECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE CAMPUS'\ BY AMENDING SECTION 18-124 TO
LTER AND CHANGE THE SPEED LIMIT FOR ALL VEHICLES ON THAT POR-

G FOR PUBLICATION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
TH: PROVIDING THAT STREETS OR HIGHWAYS NOT SPECIFICALLY SET

ONFLICTS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
FFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lubbock, as authorized by
rticle 6701d, Section 169 (b) Vernonts Texas\Civil Statutes, finds that certain
rima facie speed limits on certain highways are different from what is reasonable
or safe and should be altered and the immediate preservation of public health and
safety required alteration of said prima facie speed limits as hereinafter set forth,
OW THEREFORE:
E IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT paragraph (a) of Section 18-124 of Article VIII of
Chapter 18 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas which alters
and changes the prima facie speed limit established by Article 6701d, Section 166
(a}(l)--Vernon1s Texas Civil Statutes on the streets, drives and roadways of Texas
Technological College Campus be amended by altering and changing the speed limit
on Flint Avenue within the limits of such campus and said paragraph shall hereafte
read as follows:
"Section 18-124. Speed limits.
(a) On streets, drives or roadways. It shall be unlawful for
the driver or any other person in control of a vehicle to operate
or permit any such vehicle to be operated on any street, drive,
or roadway within the Texas Technological College Campus at a
rate of speed in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour. "
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to cause the
placing of signs so as to clearly define the limits of the prima facie areas set out
in this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating the prima facie
speed limit established by this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined any sum
ot to exceed TWO HUNDRED {$200. 00) DOLLARS.

SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause the
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty
as an alternative method of publication as provided by law.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances conflicting with
any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists.
SECTION 6. That all highways or streets not specifically set forth in the
preceding sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions hereof, and this
Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other prima facie speed limit ordinances
except those with which it specifically conflicts.
SECTION 7. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, o
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
