AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A 20-f"OOT ALLEY IN LOT 1, A.C.
JACKSON SCH()OL AOOITION TO. THE CITY Of LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND
MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY Of THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS Of THE CITY or LUBBOCK TO REFLECT
SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION •.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the alley portions hereinafter
described are no longer needed for alley purposes and for public use; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for alley purposes end for public use;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY Of LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1.. THAT the alley portions es hereinafter described shall
BE and the same ere hereby closed, vacated end abandoned for alley purpose
end for public use; ·
A 20-foot alley located in Lot 1, A.C. Jackson School Addition to the
City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, a re-plat of Blocks 22 and 23,
Roberts & McWhorter Addition, and Block 1, Chapman Subdivision, being
further described as follows;
BEGINNING at a point in the West property line of Uvalde Avenue, 35
feet west and 127.5 feet south of the NW corner of Block 23, Roberts &
McWhorter Addition to the City of Lubbock;
THENCE West 285.6 feet;
THENCE South 20 feet;
THENCE East 285.6 feet;
THENCE North ·20 feet to the PLACE Of BEGINNING.
SECTION 2.. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to indicate said
abandoning and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date
of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected
thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.

1984.
