HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 7001-1974 - Closing Portion Of An Allley Roberts- Mcwhorter Addition - 11/14/1974..I JWF:dw ORDINANCE NO. 7001 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING roRTION OF ALLEY: A PORTION OF THE NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY IN BLOCK 31, EASLEY SUBDIVISION OF THE ROBERTS-MCWHORTER ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK., LUBBOCK COUNTY., TEXAS, AND IDRE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF Tms ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN PORTION OF ALLEY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLI- CATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the portion of alley hereinafter des- cribed is no longer needed for alley purposes and for public use; and 'WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for alley purposes and to public use; and NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the portion of alley as hereinafter described shall BE and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for alley purposes and for public use: A portion of the North-South alley in Block 31, Easley Subdivision of the Roberts-McWhorter Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, and being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Lot 15, Block 31, Easley Subdivision; THENCE North a distance of 319. 03 feet to a point in the West line of Lot 8, Block 31 Easley Subdivision1 said point bein_g o. 97 feet South of the Northwest corner of said Lot 8; THENCE Southwesterly to a point in the East line of Avenue Q North Drive, said point also bei:rg the Northeast corner of Lot 22, said Block and Addition; THENCE South a distance of 280. 00 feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 16, said Block and Addition; THENCE East a distance of 10. 00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. / ,, u . THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portion of alley described in Section 1 hereof has been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of thls Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
