Sec. 1 Of Ord. 8189 Of Lubbock To Revise Altering Of Prima Facie - 11/25/1984JWF:cl ORDINANCE NO. 8189-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 8189 OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, SO AS TO REVISE THE ALTERING Of THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN PORTIONS Of SLIDE ROAD, AS HEREINAFTER MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING PLACEMENT Of SIGNS WITH RESPECT THERETO; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES TO THE EXTENT Of Sl.£H CONFLICT; APPLICATION Of THIS ORDINANCE ONLY TO THE STREETS OR HIGHWAYS HEREIN; PROVIDING THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PRO- VIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation finds it necessary to alter prims facie speed limits as established by Article 6701d, Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes, within the areas and the locations named and designated in the body of this Ordinance, all within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY Of LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8189 of the City of Lubbock is hereby amended in its entirety to read hereafter as follows: SECTION 1. THAT the prime facie speed limits on the following streets and highways in the urban district set forth below ere hereby altered and changed as hereinafter set forth upon the following described portions of streets and/or highways located within the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, to-wit: 1. A 55 MPH speed zone for the Northbound lanes of Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning at the South City limits of the City of Lubbock and extending North 0.922 mile. 2. A 55 MPH speed zone for the Southbound lanes of Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning 1.022 miles North of the South City Limits of the City of Lubbock on Slide Road and extending South to the City limits. 3. A 40 MPH speed zone for the Northbound lanes of Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning et the centerline of 62nd Street and ex- tending North to 4th Street. 4. A 40 MPH speed zone for the Southbound lanes of Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning at 4th Street and extending South to the centerline of 62nd Street. 5. A 45 MPH speed zone for the Northbound lanes on Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning at a point 0.922 mile North of the South City limits of the City of Lubbock and extending North to the center- line of 62nd Street. 6. A 45 MPH speed zone for the Southbound lanes on Slide Road (FM 1730) beginning from the centerline of 62nd Street and extending South to a point 1.022 miles North of the South City limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances conflicting with any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists. SECTION 3. THAT all highways or streets not specifically set forth in the preceding sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions hereof, and this Ordinance shall be cumulative of all other prims facie speed limit Ordinances except those with which it specifically conflicts. SECTION 4. THE City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause the placing and maintenance of such traffic control signals and/or devices and/or signs as shall be necessary to apprise the public of the zones as hereinabove set forth. SECTION 5. THAT violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS as provided in Section 1-5 of the City Code. SECTION 6. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. -2- • .. . ,,_, ..,. • SECTION 7.
