AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE PRIMA fACIE SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN PORTIONS
OF 82ND STREET BETWEEN ELGIN AVENUE AND MEMPHIS AVENU AND BETWEEN SLIDE
ROAD AND CHICAGO AVENUE IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBO COUNTY, TEXAS, AS
HEREINAFTER MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE;
DIRECTING PLACEMENT OF SIGNS WITH RESPECT THERETO; RE EALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; APPLICATIO OF THIS ORDINANCE
ONLY TO STREETS OR HIGHWAYS NAMED HEREIN; PROVIDING TIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE
CUMULATIVE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND FOR PUBLIC TION HEREOF, AND A
PENAL TY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the governing b9dy of the City of Lubbo k, upon the basis of
an engineering end traffic investigation finds it nee ssary to alter prime
facie speed limits established by Article 6701d, Sect on 166(e)1, Vernon's
Texas Civil Statutes within the area and at the locat on named and desi-
gnated in the body of this Ordinance, all within the orporate limits of
the City of Lubbock: NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUB OCK:
SECTION 1. THAT prime facie speed limits on the following streets and
highways in the urban district set forth below is her by altered and
changed as hereinafter set forth upon the following d scribed portions of
streets and/or highways located within the City of Lu bock, Lubbock County,
Texas, to-wit:
A 45 mile per hour speed zone on both sides of 2nd Street lying
between Elgin Avenue and Memphis Avenue and lyi g between Slide Road
and Chicago Avenue.
SECTION 2. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ord·nances conflicting
with any of the provisions hereof are hereby repeale insofar as such
conflict exists.
SECTION 3. THAT all highways or streets not sp cifically set forth in
the preceeding sections hereof shall not be affected by the provisions
hereof, and this Ordinance shall be cumulative of al other prime facie
speed limit Ordinances except those with which it sp cifically conflicts.

SECTION 4. THAT the City Manager is hereby authbrized and directed to
cause the placing and maintenance of such traffic sig' s as shall be
necessary to apprise the public of the speed zones as hereinabove set
forth.
SECTION 5. THAT should any section, paragraph,
phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconsti
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall

SECTION 6. THAT any person, firm or corporation violating the prime
facie speed limit established by this Ordinance shall upon conviction, be
fined any sum not to exceed TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200 00).
SECTION 7. THAT the City Secretary is authorize and directed to
cause the publication of the descriptive caption of tfuis Ordinance together
with the penalty provision as an alternative method of publication as
provided by law. !
