AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AN AREA OF LAND TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS,
WHICH AREA IS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND IS ADJACENT TO AND ABUTS THE EXISTING CITY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR CORRECTION OF THE CITY MAP
TO INCLUDE THIS ADDITIONAL TERRITORY; PROVIDING FOR A SERVICE PLAN; PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest
of the citizens of the City of Lubbock as well as future citizens of the area
described hereinbelow to annex such area to the City of Lubbock, Texas; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the area of land described hereafter, which abuts and is
adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Texas, BE
and is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City
of Lubbock, Texas. Such area is specifically described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the present city limits as established by City of
Lubbock Ordinance No. 6201, said point being 360 feet East and 50 feet
North of the southwest corner of Section 2, Block D-3;
THENCE West along a line approximately 3360 feet to a point;
THENCE North along a line approximately 6580 feet to a point;
THENCE West along a line approximately 960 feet to a point;
THENCE North along West property line approximately 2640 feet to a point;
THENCE West along North property line approximately 105~.1 feet to a
point;
THENCE North 2°43'45" East along a line approximately 1287.61 feet to a
point;
THENCE North along a line approximately 0.34 feet to a point;
THENCE West along a line approximately 0.09 feet to a point;
THENCE North along a line approximately 20 feet to a point;
THENCE North 2°54'46" West along a line approximately 1383.5 feet to a
point;
THENCE North 0°3' West along a line approximately 1236.22 feet to a
point;
THENCE East along South property line approximately 400 feet to a point;
THENCE North along East property line approximately 660 feet to a point;
THENCE West along North property line approximately 400 feet to a point;

THENCE South along a line approximately 2680 feet to a point;
THENCE West along a line approximately 501 feet to a point;
THENCE North along a line approximately 3652 feet to a point;
THENCE West along a line approximately 4290 feet to a point;
THENCE South along a line approximately 4240 feet to the POINT OF BEGIN-
NING.
Said area contains approximately 2.93 square miles.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby directed to immediately
correct the map of the City of Lubbock by adding thereto the additional terri-
tory annexed by this Ordinance, indicating on the map the date of annexation
and the number of this Ordinance. The City Secretary-Treasurer and the City
Engineer shall each keep in their respective offices an official map of the
City of Lubbock showing the boundaries of the municipal corporation, including
this annexation.
SECTION 3. THAT the Service Plan prepared by the City Planning Depart-
ment be appended to this Ordinance as required by state law.
SECTION 4. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase,
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 5. THAT this Ordinance shall become effective following passage
at second reading and non-objection by the U.S. Justice Department.

Please be advised that the above referenced ordinance annexing the Airport
and other properties into the corporate city limits was read on second and
final reading on.this date.
The effective date is approximately October 3. However, the annexation has
to be submitted to the Justice Department for approval and whether or not
you must comply with the requirements of the City on October 3 or wait for
the word from the Justice Department is unknown to me.
I suggest that you check with Mr. Coffee closely to see which date you must
abide by.
