HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 6901-1974 - Amending Chapter 26 Public Amusements - 05/09/1974t ·-==+~~======================~, ORDINANCE NO. 6901 ----------- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 26 OF THE CODE OF ORDI- NANCES, CITY OF LUBBOCK, ENTITLED "PUBLIC AMUSEMENTS11, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION 26-2.1 PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION AND APPROVAL BY BUILDING AND FffiE OFFICIALS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the changes in the regulation of public amusements,. as set forth below, would be in the best in- terest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lub- bock, BE and is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 26-2. 1 which shall read as follows: 11Sec. 26-2. 1. Premises -Inspection by Building and Fire Officials. All places of public amusement which require a permit or license under this chapter, including,. but not limited to, public domino parlors, shooting galleries, public dances, billiard and pool halls., and coin-operated machines requiring a license, shall be inspected by the Cfior bu:il:ling and fire officials prior to the issuance of any such permit or license and the approval of such inspectors as to the compliance with appli- cable building and fire regulations shall be a condition of the issuance of any such permit or license. 11 SECTION 2. THAT should any Section., paragraph.., sentence.., clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
