ORDINANCE NO. 6891
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
CITY OF LUBBOCK ENTITLED 11STREETS AND SIDEWALKS'', BY AMENDING
SECTION 28-63 THEREOF BY AMENDING DRIVEWAY STANDARDS PLATE NO. l
BY ADDING A NEW DRIVEWAY STANDARDS PLATE NO, 4; BY RE-NUMBERING
SUB-SECTION (e) AND (f) THEREOF TO BECOME SUB-SECTION (i) AND {j);
BY ADDING THERETO NEW SUB-SECTIONS (e), (f), (g) AND (h) GOVERNING
DRIVEWAY CONSTRUCTION; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the Ci.ty Council has determined that the changes in dri.veway
standards as indicated below, would be in the best interest of the citizens of the
City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 28-63 of Chapter 38 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Lubbock., BE and is hereby amended by amending the first paragraph
thereof to read as follows:
11All driveways into private property shall be paved from the
street curb line to the property line. The design and con-
struction of such driveways shall be in accordance with this
section, section 28-48 of this Code and the driveway standards,
Plates 1., 2~ .a-.-&.f. which are made a part hereof., a copy of
which plates shall be kept in the offices of the building inspector
open to public inspection. Driveways for access to all property.,
other than single family residences., must also have the
approval of the director of traffic., or his representatives, to
as sure that such driveway design complies herewith. 11
SECTION 2. THAT Section 28-63 of Chaper 28 of the Code oi Ordinances.,
City of Lubbock .. BE and is hereby amended by re-numbering the existing sub-
sections (e) and (f) to be numbered sub-sections (i) and (j).
SECTION 3, THAT Section 28-63 of Chapter 28 of the Code of Ordinances"
City-of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended by adding thereto new sub-sections (e),
(f)., (g) and (h) which shall read as follows:
(e) Lots with 100 feet or less of footage along an abutting
Public street may use a 10 foot minimum from a property
line corner to the edge of the first driveway opening. Lots
with footage in excess of 100 feet will use the 25 foot dimension,
(f) On lots that are abbtted by two or more streets. the
length of the longest side directly abutting a street will
govern which standard is to apply. AU drives will conf arm
to the standard imposed by the longest side.
(g) All measurement to determine the longest side shall be
performed on the property line beginning at the corner formed
by two property lines or that point of intersection of the property
1 ines -extended. 0
(h) Plate Number ·if~ will be the standard modification
requirerrent for commercial lots located on a corner of any
two public streets. The purpose of the requirement is to
prevent parking in the area in accordance with Ordinance
#5309.
SECTION 4. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phras
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason,
the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 5. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
provided by law.
