HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 6881-1974 - Closing Portion Two Alleys - 04/11/1974• JWF:nm ORDINANCE NO. 6881 -------ff AN ORDINANCE ABANDO;NING AND CL03ING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF ALLEYS: TWO FIFTEEN FEET ALLEYS IN THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION FOUR, BLOCK 0,, IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS., AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMEN'I' OF THOSE CERTAIN ALLEYS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICA'll ON. WHEREAS,. the City Council finds that the Alley portions hereinafter described are no longer needed for alley purposes and for public use; and., WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for alley purposes and to public use; and NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the alley portions hereinafter described shall BE and the same are hereby closed,. vacated and abandoned for alley purposes and for public use; · Two 15. 00 foot alleys out of the Southwest ¼ of Section 4, Block 0, Lubbock County, Texas, and beilg more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Lot 1. Zahn Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE South along the West line of Lot 1, Zahn Addition a d istanc;e of 217. 5 feet to the Southwest corner of said Lot 1; THENCE Southwesterly along the projection of the North line of Idalou Road a distance of 16. 7 feet; THENCE North a distance of approximately 54. 8 feet; THENCE West a distance of 132. 5 feet; THENCE North a distance of 15. 00 feet; THENCE East a distance of 122. 5 feet; THENCE North 45 ° East a distance of 14. 14 feet; THENCE North a distance of 145. 00 feet; THENCE East a di.stance of 15. 00 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the alleys described in Section 1 hereof have been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, parggraph, sentence, phrase., claus t or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinm.ce shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
