D~· ('..{ 't"'( dF Lw'->b,dc. :11151 vm 1.891 PAGt 556 ORDINANCE NO. 8424 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF AN ALLEY WEST OF LOT 8, BLOCK 1, WESTMORELAND ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICA- TION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the alley portions hereinafter de- scribed are no longer needed for alley purposes and for public use; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for alley purposes and for public use; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the alley portions as hereinafter described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for alley purposes and for public use: BEGINNING at a found 1 1/4" iron pipe, the Southwest corner of Lot 8, Block 1, Westmoreland Addition, for the Southeast and beginning corner of this tract; THENCE North 36°26'05" West, along the West line of Lot 8, Block 1, Westmoreland Addition, 169.0 feet to a point, for a corner of this tract; THENCE North 8°36'27" East, 14.13 feet to a point, for the Northeast corner of this tract; THENCE South 53°3,9'00" West, 25.0 feet to a point, in the East line of the West 1/2 of Lot 10, Lowery Subdivision, for the Northwest corner of this tract; THENCE South 36°26'05" East, along the East line of this West 1/2 Lot 10, Lowery Subdivision, 179.0 feet to a 3/8" iron rod, set for the Southwest corner of this tract; THENCE North 53°39'00" East, along the North line of Brownfield Drive, 15.0 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official maps of the City of Lubbock to indicate said abandoning and closing, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final pas-. sage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alter- native method provided by law.
