Ord. 8173 To Change Vehicular Parking On East Side Of Univ Ave. - 11/17/1983ORDINANCE NO. 8173-A ----- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 8173 IN PART SO AS TO CHANGE VEHICULAR PARKING ON THE EAST SIDE OF UNIVERSITY AVENUE FROM 10TH STREET TO MAIN AVENUE FROM PARALLEL PARKING TO 30 DEGREES ANGLE PARKING; AUTHORIZING PLACING OF SIGNS AND MARKINGS; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES TO EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRESCRIBING PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS HEREOF; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION Of THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, by map attached as Exhibit A to Ordinance No. 8173 of the City of Lubbock, parallel parking for vehicles is required on the East side of University Avenue between 10th Street and Main Avenue; and, WHEREAS, after traffic engineering studies having been made, the City Council hereby determines that said location should be changed to JO degrees angle parking in the interest of public safety and welfare; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY Of LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Ordinance No. 8173 of the City of Lubbock and the map attached thereto as Exhibit A are amended to the extent necessary to change the parking for vehicles on the East side of University Avenue between 10th Street and Main Avenue from existing parallel parking to JO degree angle parking for vehicles at said location. This amendment affects said location only, and the remainder of Ordinance 8173 remains the same and in full force and effect. SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause the placing and maintenance of such traffic signs and markings as shall be necessary to apprise the public of parking as hereinabove set forth. SECTION J. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances conflicting with any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists. SECTION 4. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of the Ordinance shall not be affected hereby. SECTION 5. THAT violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars as provided in Section 1-5 of the City Code. SECTION 6. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
