ORDINANCE NO. 8362 ll RM:cl li AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTION (c) OF SECTION 34-73 OF THE CODE OF ORDI- iNANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, CHANGING THE RATES FOR SEWER SERVICE WITH- jiN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1982; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND jPROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. ·! l WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion and deems it to be in the jpublic interest that sewer service rates be increased as is herein set out in !order to provide better sewer service for the citizens of the City of Lubbock; I ,; ll WHEREAS, the City Council's intention is to establish sewer service rates {that will adequately cover operational, maintenance and capital costs; NOW 11 THEREFORE: lj !lBE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: I ' SECTION 1. THAT Subsection (c) of Section 34-73 of the Code of Ordi- nances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, be and is amended to read as follows: (c) Effective for all billings scheduled to be rendered on and after October 1, 1982, there shall be charged for sewer service to all resi- dences, places of business, private and public buildings, churches, schools and institutions, the following service charge: Single Family Residence: Multi-family Residence: Room Houses: Universities, Schools, Geriatric Institutions, Orphans Homes, Public or Private Institutions, Public Schools: Commercial: 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch meter 1 inch meter 1~ inch meter 2 inch meter 3 inch meter 4 inch meter $2.25 per month $1.50 per unit per month $1.50 per month plus $.60 per rental room per month The rates shall be established by agreement with the City of Lubbock in accordance with the Section 34-73; 34-74; and 34-76 of this code, factors such as strength, volume and flow rate shall be considered. $2.25 per month minimum including 3,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand gallons per month thereafter $4.00 per month minimum including 5,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter $9.00 per month minimum including 12,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter $16.00 per month minimum including 20,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter $37.00 per month minimum including 48,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter· $66.00 per month minimum including 85,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter .. .. 6 inch meter 8 inch meter 10 inch meter Industrial: $150.00 per month minimum including 190,000 gallons: $.18 per thousa thereafter $265.00 per month minimum including 340,000 gallons; $.18 per thousa thereafter $415.00 per month minimum including 535,000 gallons; $.18 per thousand thereafter The Ch~rge for industrial users shall be the same as the commercial rate; however, industrial waste that exceeds the allowable strength shall be admitte to the sewer only by contract with the City and such rate shall be sufficient to recover the entire cost of trans- mission, treatment and disposal of the industrial liquid waste. SECTION 2. THAT should any paragraph, section, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reaso , the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publi- cation of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law.
