ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 14-7.3, SUBSECTIONS (a)(1) and (a)(2) OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, PERTAINING TO CHARGES FOR
RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE AND TRASH COLLECTION, BY AMENDING THE LANGUAGE OF SAID
SUBSECTIONS TO READ AS IS HEREINAFTER SET OUT; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would be in the best
interest of the citizens o~ the City of Lubbock to amend Sec. 14-7.3, Subsec-
tions (a)(l) and (a)(2) of the Code of Ordinances to insU're the continued
pickup of l:'esidential ga-rbage and t'ra::;h within the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an increase in the charge for such
services is necessary to insure the continued viability of the program and
would be in the best interest of the health, safety and general welfare of the
citizens of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 14-7.3, Subsections (a)(1) and (a)(2) of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
(1) Residential: (1 unit) -$4.75 per month, effective October 1,
1982. This amount to be increased by $.25 per month on April
1' 1983.
(2) Small commercial, churches, day nurseries, private schools,
professional offices, home beauty shops, other customary home
occupations, nursing homes, orphan, maternity and geriatric
homes, lodge~, soro'.t'ities and f"raternities generating less than
twenty (20) cubic feet per pickup-$4.75, effective October 1,
1982. This amount to be increased by $.25 per month on April
1' 1983.
Rooming houses without container $4.75 + .75 per "rental room;
mobile home parks without containers -$4.75 per space; multi-
.family without containe"rs-$4.75 per unit all effective Octo-
ber 1, 1982. This amount to be increased by $.25 per month on
April 1, 1983.
SECTION 2. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase
or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publi-
cation of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
as provided by law.
