SUSPENDED FROM EITHER A BUILDING OR OTHER SUPPORT; AND
BY REPEALING SECTION 17. 5 ... 4 WHICH PER_TAIN'ED TO SIGNS NOT
SUSPENDED FROM ANY BUILDING; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THE DESCRIPTIVE CAPTION AND
PENALTY CLAUSE HEREOF.
WHEREAS., various proposed revisions in Zoning Ordinance No. 169
have been proposed by the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the
recommendations and report of the Commission have been received by the
City Council., and the City Council finds that it would be in the interest of
the public safety., health., and general welfare of the Citizens of Lubbock
to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 1695., as hereinafter set forth; NOW
THERE FORE.:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Zoning Ord'inance No. 1695 (Being an appendix
to the Lubbock City Code) BE and the same is hereby amended as follows:
A. Section l0A.l is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section l0A.l Uses Permitted:
It is declared to be the public policy of the City of Lubbock that
the regulations set forth in this district are intended to encour_age orderly
development of a high character in attractive landscaped surroundings with
the design of buildings and exterior indications so controlled as to be more

compatible with residential. development in the vicinity or within the district to
preserve property values and protect the health and welfare of the inhabitants of
the City of Lubbock. No use shall be permitted which will be injurious or offen ....
sive to the occupants of the adjacent premises or area by reason of emission of
dust., smoke,. odor., glare~ noise.,. vibration., trash, or other causes. All busines
must be conducted entirely within a building and no outside display of merchan ...
dise shall be permitted. 11
B. Section l0A. 1 ... 12 is hereby created and shall read as follows:
"Section lOA. 1 ... 12 Tire, Battery and Accessory stores for passenger
automobiles. The recapping of tires will not be permitted."
c. Section 11. 1 ... 11 is hereby created and shall read as follows:
11Section 11., 1-11 Tire., Battery and Accessory Stores for automobiles.,
with outside display of merchandise permitted no closer than 10 feet from any
street property line. The recapping of tires will not be permitted.11
D. Section 11.1-19 is hereby created and shall read as follows:
"Section 11. 1-19 Rental Store. Trailers or the outside display of
merchandise will not be permitted. 11
E. Section 17. 5-3 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 17. 5 ... 3 Signs suspended from a building or other support may be
extended horizontally not to exceed a distance of 9 feet from the property line an
in no event shall a sign be permitted to extend nearer than 1 1 / 2 feet of the back
side of a street curb or sidewalk curb; provided further that the lowest point of
such sign shall be and remain not less than 8 feet above the sidewalk or ground
elevation. In the event the street curb is recessed for parking or no street curb
has been installed., then and in such event, the full 9 feet extension from the
property line is permitted provided the lowest point of the sign is 14 feet or mor
above the sidewalk or ground elevation.11
F. Section 17. 5 ... 4 is hereby deleted and repealed,.
SECTION 2. ANY person, firm1 or corporation violating any provision
of this Ordinance shall upon final conviction thereof be fined in any a.mount not
exceeding $200. 00. Each day a violation continues shall constitute a separate
offense and is punishable as such hereunder.
SECTION 3. THE City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
cause publication of the descriptive caption and penalty clause hereof as an
alternative method of publication provided by law.
