AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO~' 1695 BY
CHANGING SECTION 2.117 DEFINING IrRATI..ER COACHES; CHANGING

WHEREAS~ the City Cotmcil finds~ after all notices have been given
and hearings held as provided by law 1 that it is in the best interest of the
citizens of the City of."Lubbock to make the change in the zoning law as here-
inafter set forth., NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAIN"ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 2.117 of the Zoning Ordinance No. 1695
which reads as follows:
"Section 2. 117 Trailer Coach: Any vehicle used as sleeping or
living quarters mounted on wheels or designed to be mounted on wheels for
transportation."
BE and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2.117 Trailer Coach: Any vehicle designed as sleeping or
living quarters and monnted or designed to be mounted on wheels for trans ..
portation. (Includes trailer houses~ travel trailers, mobil homes~ homes-
on ... wheels., etc.) Such vehicles shall be termed trailer coaches even though
the wheels may be removed and I or vehicles placed on a permanent foundatio
SECTION 2. THAT Section 2.18 of Zoning Ordinance No. 1695 whi
reads as follows:
"Section 2.18 Building, Accessory: A detached subordinate build.
the use of which is clearly incidental to that of the main building or to the us
of the land. "
BE and the same i s hereby amended to read a s follows:
"Section 2.18 Building~ Accessory: A detached subordinate build.
the use of whichlsclearly incidental to that of the main building or to the us
of the land and which is not occupied for dwelling purposes, except as pro-
vided in Section 16. (A trailer coach shall not b e included in this definition.) '

SECTION 3. THAT Section 15.1-1-4 of Zoning Ordinance No. 1695
which reads as follows:
"Section 15. 1-1-4 Trailer Parkingi 11
BE and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
11Section 15.1-1-4 Trailer Coaches:"
SECTION 4. THAT Section 15.1-1-4-1 of Zoning Ordinance No.
1695 which reads as follows:
"Section 15.1-1-4-1 -The parking of a trailer coach for dwelling
purposes in any district shall be prohibited except when such trailer coach
is located in a trailer coach park licensed by the City of Lubbock. 11
BE and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15.1-1-4-1 -Trailer coaches may be used for dwelling
purposes only when:
a. Located in a trailer coach park licensed by the City of Lubbock,
b. Located in a "C-411 or "M11 Zoning District at a retail trailer
coach sales or service buSiness and when only one trailer
coach at the business location is used for dwelliilg purposes, or
c. Used as temporary living quarters for guards at construction
sites when approved by the Building Inspector under provisions
of Section 6. 1-5 of this Ordinance, or
d. Located in an "M-1" or "M-211 Zoning District on a lot with a
minimum frontage of sot, provided that the wheels are not
removed and tut:it is located a minimum of tot from any prope
line and building and provided that only one trailer coach is
located on the lot, or
e. Approved by the Zoning Board of Adjustme nt as a Special Excep-
tion under provisions of Section 19. 6-2-11."
In each of the above instances all utility connections must conform
to pertinent City Ordinances. "
SECTION 5. THAT a new Section 15.1-1-4-3 be added to read as
follows:
"Section 15.1-1-4-3 - A trailer coach shall not be used as an
office or business building in any district., except as authorized in
Section 6. 1-5 of this Ordinance, or as an office on the site in connection
with a bonafide retail trailer coach sales lot .. ~~
SECTION 6. THAT a new Section 19.6-2-11 be added to read as
follows:
11Section 19.6-2-11 --Permit use of trailer coaches for dwelling
purposes, in any zoning district in cases of extreme personal hardship. 11
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
