AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE DATE OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK FOR THE YEAR OF 1982.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock is required to
establish the date for all general elections of municipal officers in
accordance with Sec. 10-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Lubbock, Texas, and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Lubbock at Chapter 1, Art. IX,
Sec. 7 provides that the regular municipal election of the City of
Lubbock shall be held in the month of April on every even numbered year
at a date set by Ordinance, and
WHEREAS, the Election Code of the State of Texas provides at Art.
2.01b that such election shall be held on the first Saturday in April;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS:
THAT the regular municipal election for the City of Lubbock shall
be held on April 3, 1982, under the provisions of statutes of the State
of Texas, the Charter of the City of Lubbock, and City Ordinances.
THAT the election shall be held at the polling places set forth in
an appropriate election order to be hereafter issued and that all pers9ns
qualified to vote in said City under the election laws of the State of
Texas shall be allowed to vote therein. Said general election shall be
held and the polls shall be open from 7:00A.M. to 7:00P.M., and all
electors shall vote in the precinct of their residence. Electronic
voting machines shall be used for this general election. This election
shall be conducted as a joint election with Lubbock Independent School
District.
THAT this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force immediately
from and after its approval and passage.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
