AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF STREET AND
ALLEY: A PORTION OF GUAVA:cAVENUE. AND THE ALLEY LOCATED IN Bt.OCK-16,:.PHYLLIS
WHEATLEY SUBDIVISION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE
CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREET AND ALLEY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street and Alley portions here-
inafter described are no longer needed for Street and Alley purposes and for
public use; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to
close, vacate and abandon the same for Street and Alley purposes and to public
use; and NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the Street and Alley portions as hereinafter describe
shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street and
alley purposes and for public use:
TRACT ONE
A portion of Guava Avenue described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Southeast corner of Lot 12, Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley
Subdivision to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE, North 0°02'30" West 550 feet to a point, said point being the
Northeast corner of Lot 22, Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley Subdivision;
THENCE, South 89°59' East 30 feet to a point, said point bearing South
0°02'30" East 580.40 feet from the Northeast corner of Section 4, Block
"B", Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE, South 0°02'30" East 550 feet to a point;
THENCE, North 89°59' West 30 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
TRACT TWO
A portion of alley located in Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley Subdivision
described as follows:
BEGINNING at the·-southeast corner of Lot 11, Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley
Subdivision to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE, North 550 feet to a point, said point being the Northeast corner
of Lot 1, Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley Subdivision;

THENCE, East 20 feet tJ a point, said point being the Northwest corner of
Lot 22, Block 16, Phyllis Wheatley Subdivision;
I
THENCE, South 550 feet !to a point said point being the Southwest corner of
Lot 12, Block 16, Phyl1is Wheatley Subdivision;
THENCE, West 20 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT thJ City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the Street and
Alley described in Section l hereof have been closed and abandoned, showing the
number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT shQuld any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordiiance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for
any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT thk City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed
to cause publication of theidescriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alter-
native method provided by ltw•
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
