AN ORDINANCE REPE1\1.1ING ORDINANCE No.· 4395 OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK, AND AMENDING SECTION 1601 OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODEā¢
1964 EDITION. THE SAME BEING THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF LUB
BOCK, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THOSE AREAS ZONED INTO 11C11 CLASSIFICA-
TIONS. THOSE AREAS ZONED INTO 11AM" DISTRICTS WHICH ARE NOT USED -
ENTffiELY FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES~ AND ANY PROPERTY WITHIN AN
11R" ZONE THAT IS USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. TO BE CHANGED TO
FIRE ZONE NO. 2 WITHOUT FURTHER ACTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL; MAK G

SION TO NOTIFY THE BUILDING INSPECTION ADMINISTRATOR OF SUCH CHA GE;
AND PROVIDING FOR A FIRE ZONE MAP TO BE MAINTAINED BY THE BUILD ...
ING INSPECTION ADMINISTRATOR-.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Board of Insurance of the State
of Texas requires that property used for certain pµrposes be placed into Fire
Zone No. 2; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the public interest to cause this
change to take place immediately upon the classification of an area into a 11C 11
Classification, an area into 11AM11 District when the property is not to be used
for residential purposes,, and any property within an "R11 zone that is used for
commercial puI:poses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that the maintaining of a Fire Zone Map
designating the area of the City embraced by Fire Zones 1, 2 and 3 is an expedi-
tious method of notifying the public of such zones, NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 1601 of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Editi ,
the same being the Building Code of the City 2f Lubboclc., BE and the same is here
by amended to add Section 1601.1, Section 1601. 2 and Section 1601. 3.
SECTION 2. THAT Section 1601. 1 shall read as follows:
11Any areas of the City of Lubbock zoned into the 11C11 classifications.,
the "AM11 classification when the property is not used entirely for
residential purposes, and any property within an "R11 zone that is
to be used for commercial purposes~ shall, upon final enactment by
the City Council and without further action by the Council, be changed
to Fire Zone No. 2. 11
SECTION 3. THAT Section 1601. 2 shall read as follows:
11lt shall be the duty of the Secretary of the Planning and Zoning
Commission to notify the Building Inspection Administrator of
any change in classification as provided in Section 1601.1.11

SECTION 4. THAT Section 1601. 3 shall read as follows:
11The Building Inspection Administrator is directed to .. at all times.,
maintain in his office in a conspicuous place., a Fire Zone Map re ...
fleeting the location of the various fire zones which have been or may
hereafter be enacted as provided in Section 1601. The color RED shall
designate Fire Zone No. 1; the color GREEN shall designate Fire Zone
No. 2; and uncolored areas shall designate Fire Zone No. 3. In addition,
the color nCROSS HATCHED11 GREEN shall designate those 11AM11 districts
that are not used entirely for residential purposes., and all areas located
in 11R11 zones that are used for commercial purposes. 11
