AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF
STREETS AND ALLEY: A PORTION OF UTICA AVENUE AND THIRD BOULEVARD, AND
PART OF AN ALLEY, ALL IN WHISPERWOOD ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,
LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF
THIS ORDINANCE: DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF
THE CITr OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE.CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT
CERTAIN STREET AND ALLEY PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION. ., , .'
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street and Alley portions
hereinafter described are no longer needed f~r Street and Alley purposes
and for public use; and
• WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest
to close, vacate and abandon the same for Street and Alley purposes and
to public use; and NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the Street and Alley portions as hereinafter
described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned
for street and alley purposes and for public use;
TRACT ONE
A portion of UTICA Avenue located in Whisperwood Addition and being
further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point of curvature which bears South a distance of
1.83 feet from the No'J:'thwest corner of Lot 12, Whisperwood, and
also bears No'J:'th a distance of 248.17 feet and East a distance of
1869.90 feet from the Southwest corneX' of Section 22, Block A,
Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE No'J:'thwesterly around a curve to the left, said curve having
a radius of 259.24 feet, a central angle of 35° 19' 25", tangent
lenghts of 82.54 feet, and a chord distance of 157.31 feet to a
po;i.nt of reverse curvature;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the right, said curve having
a radius of 15.00 feet, a central angle of 80° 58' 44", tangent
lenghts of 12 •. 81 feet, and a chord ·distance of 19.48 feet to a
point of reverse curvature;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having
a radius of 152.71 feet, a central angle of 45° 39' 19 11 , tangent
l~nghts of 64.28 feet, and a chord distance of 118.49 feet;
THENCE South a distance of 278.50 feet to the Point of Beginning.
TRACT TWO
An alley located in Whisperwood Addition and being further described
as follows:

BEGINNING at the Northeast corner of Lot 10-A, a replat of Lots 7
thru 11, Whisperwood, an Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock
County, Texas;
THENCE North a distance of 20.00 feet;
THENCE West a distance of 74.28 feet;
THENCE s. 4,5° w. a distance of 36. 77 feet;
THENCE West a distance of 14.77 feet;
THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the right, said curve having
a radius of 50.00 lfeet, a central angle of 25° 22' 12", tangent
lengths of 11. 25 feet and a chord distance of 21. 96 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 32.11 feet;
THENCE N. 45° E. a distance of 36.77 feet;
THENCE East a dis~ance of 66.00 feet to the Point of Beginning.
TRACT THREE
A portion of Third Boulevard located in Whisperwood Addition and
being further described as follows: , !
BEGlNNlNG at a point which bears North 328.00 feet and East 1813.90
feet from the Sout;tiwest corner of Section 22, Block A, Lubbock
County, Texas;
THENCE Southwesterly, around a curve to the right, said curve
having a radius of 15.00 feet, a central angle of 90°, tangent
l~ngths of 15.00 feet, and a chord distance of 21.21 feet to a
point of compound curvature;
THENCE Westerly around a curve to the right, said curve having a
X'adius of 261.24 feet, a central angle of 30°, tangent lengths of
70.00 feet, and a chord distance of 135.23 feet; ,
THENCE,S. 30° w. a, distance of -56.00 feet;
THENCE Southeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having
a radius of 317.24 feet, a central angle of 30°, tangent lengths of
85.0Q feet, and a chord distance of ·164.22 feet to ·a point of
reverse curvature;
THENCE Southeasterly around a curve to the right, said curve having
a radius of 15.00 feet, a central ~ngle of 90°, tangent lengths of
15.00 ;feet, and a ~hord distance of 21.21 feet;
THENCE NoX'th a distance of 86.00 feet to the foint of Beginning.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and
directed to J11ark the ofticial Jllap of the City of Lubbock to indicate

that the Street and Alley described in Section 1 hereof has been closed
and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its
final passage •
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid
for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected
thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
