WBERFAS, the City Cowicil of the City of Lut:bock, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation finds it necessary to alter prima facie speed limits as established by Article 6701d, Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes, within the areas and the locations named and designated in the body of this Ordinance, all within the coi:porate limits of the City of LUbbock; HlY THEREFORE: BE IT Om>AINED BY THE CIT! com,:n, OF THE CITY OF LUBBXK: sa:'l'ION l. THAT Ordinances No. 8189 and 8189A of the City of Lubbock are hereby repealed. SF.a'ION 2. THAT the pri.ma facie speed limits on the following streets and highways in the urban district set forth below are hereby altered and changed as hereinafter set forth upon the following described portions of streets and/or highways located within the City of Im>bock, Lubbock County, Texas, to-wit: l. A 40 mph speed zone for traffic on Slide Road between 4th Street and 62nd street. 2. A 45 mph speed zone for traffic on Slide Road between 62nd Street and 82nd street. 3. A 50 mph speed zone for traffic on Slide Road between 82nd Street and the east leg of 92nd Street. 4. A 55 mph speed zone for traffic on Slide Road between the east leg of 92rd street and the south City Limits of the City of LUbbock, .Texas. SECTION 3. THAT all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances conflicting with any of the provisions hereof are hereby repealed insofar as such conflict exists. I I ' SEx:TION 4. 'l'BAT all highways or streets not specifically set forth in the preceding sections hereof sball not be affected by the provisions hereof, and this Ordinance shall be cunlll.ative of all other prima facie speed limit Ordinances except those with which it specifically conflicts. SEx:TION 5. 'l'BAT the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause the placing and maintenance of such traffic control signals and/or devices and/or signs as shall be necessa.r:y to apprise the p.lblic of the zones as hereinabove set forth; except that all traffic speed limit signs to be installed and maintained in accordance with this ordinance on that portion of Slide Road (from a point illllediately south of 62nd Street to the south City Limits) that is designated as a State Bighrcly (FM 1730) shall be installed and maintained by the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation of the State of Texas. SECI'ION 6. 'l'BAT violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor pmishable by a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars as provided in Section 1-5 of the LUbbock City Code. SEx:TION 7. 'l'BAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SEx:TION 8. 'l'BAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause p.lblication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SJ ORDERED.
