HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 8082-1980 - Revising Water Rates Contained In Section 34-11, And Revising Water Rates. - 08/14/1980DGV/pg "i" -1 '-\ -1m 1>-~"'110 8082 ORDINANCE NO. ----- AN ORDINANCE REVISING WATER RATES AS CONTAINED IN SECTION 34-10 OF THE LUBBOCK CITY CODE; REVISING THE MINIMUM WATER RATES AS CONTAINED IN SECTION 34-11 OF THE LUBBOCK CITY CODE; REVISING WATER RATES AS APPLICABLE TO TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY AS CONTAINED IN SECTION 34-12 OF THE LUBBOCK CITY CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS~ the City Council of the City of Lubbock finds that water rates should be revised as hereinafter set forth to keep pace with the rising costs incurred by said City in the exploration for~ and the production and distribution of water necessary to the health and welfare of the citizens of said City; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. Section 34-10 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 34-10. Rates--Amount. The city, through its water department, shall charge and collect, and every consumer shall pay, for water furnished by the city to the consumer, the amount calculated by application of the following rates to meter readings for all billing cycles beginning on and after October 2, 1980. First 1,000 gallons (minimum) Next 49,000 gallons (per thousand) Next 200,000 gallons (per thousand) All over 250,000 gallons (per thousand) $4.50 .93 .80 .75 For townhouse or condominium complex served by a single connection and meter, the total charges shall be calculated on the basis of determining the average water usage for each unit served and applying the minimums and rates herein provided for single consumers and multiplying such average per unit cost by the number of units served. The rates applicable and chargeable to each customer shall be increased by adding the amount of 10 per cent to each category provided herein upon October 1, 1981, and by adding the amount of 5 per cent to each category provided herein upon October 1, 1982. Such amounts shall be rounded off to the next highest even cent for billing purposes. · Provided, however, that the rates presently in effect shall remain until the first date heretofore specified to-wit: First 1,000 gallons (minimum) Next 49,000 gallons {per thousand) Next 200,000 gallons {per thousand) All over 250,000 gallons {per thousand) $3.75 .77 .66 .62 For townhouse or condominium complex served by a single connection and meter, the total charges shall be calculated on the basis of determining the average water usage for each unit served and applying the minimums and rates herein provided for single consumers and multiplying such average per unit cost by the number of units served. Shall remain in effect October 1~ 1980." .• i/· SECTION 2. Section 34-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock is hereby amended to read hereafter as follows: "Sec. 34-11. Same--Minimum rate. (a) The minimum rate for water, which shall be charged all consumers, except as otherwise provided, shall be four dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) per month. (b) In calculating the minimum rate to be charged townhouses or condominiums, the minimum rate offour dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) shall be multiplied by the total number in such building or complex subject to single billing." SECTION 3. That Section 34-12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 34-12. Rate in application to Texas Tech University. The rate for water supplied by the City of Lubbock to Texas Tech University shall be seventy-five cents ($0.75) per one thousand (1,000) gallons. The rates applicable and chargeable to Texas Tech University shall be increased by adding the amount of 10 per cent after the first day of October, 1981 and shall be increased by add- ing the amount of 5 per cent after the first day of October, 1982. The rates presently in effect shall remain for any billing cycle before October 2, 1980, to-wit: $0.62 per one thousand (1,000) gallons." SECTION 4.
