AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS
OF STREETS: A PORTION OF FIRST STREET .BETWEEN CANTON AND BOSTOl" ' ,
AVENUES IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS AND MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE: DIRECTING
THE CtlYENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCI<
TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREET:
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street portions hereinafter
described are no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; and,
WHEREAS, the City Coul}cil finds it would be to the public interest to close,
vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and to public use; and NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portions as hereinafter described shall BE
and the same are hereby closed.~~ vacated and abandoned for street purposes and
for public use;
A portion of 1st Street in the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County,
Texas, lying West of Boston Avenue and East of Canton Avenue
being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron rod set for the Northeast corner of Block 11
Parks Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.,
and the Southeast corner of this tract;
THENCE West along the South line of 1st St reet 425. 0 feet to an
X on concrete., a corner of this tract;
THENCE Northeasterly, around the arc of a curve to the left, of
radius 50. 0 feet, an arc distance of 88. 61 feet to a point in the
North line of 1st Street, a corner of this tract;
THENCE East, 376. 01 feet to an iron rod set for a corner of this
tract;
THENCE South, 60. 0 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
~ark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the street described in
pection 1 hereof has been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this
Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph., sentence, phrase,
clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to
cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative
method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
