HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 6606-1973 - Abandoning/Closing, Hartford Ave, Lot 32, Blk 10 & Lot 16, Blk 11, Westhaven Add - 04/12/1973ORDINANCE NO, 6606 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF HARTFORD VENUE BETWEEN LOT 32, BLOCK 10 AND LOT 16, BLOCK 11, WESTRA VEN DDITION TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AS MORE ARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DIRE NG THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF L TO INDICATE A CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THE PORT I ON OF SA TREET_. PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that portion of Hartford Avenue between ck 10 and Lot 16, Block 11, Westhaven Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock ounty, Texas, as hereinafter more particularly described, is no longer needed fo treet purposes or for public use; and WHEREAS, the City C:ouncil finds it to be in the public interest to close, nd abandon same for street purposes and to public use; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the portion of Hartford Avenue between Lot 32, Block 10 and Lot 16, Block 11 within the City of Lubbock as hereinafter described be and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use; said portion being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southwest 8 orner of Lot 16, Block 11, Westhaven Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE North a distance of 95. 0 feet to a point, said point being the Northwest corner of said lot 16; THENCE West a distance of 50. 0 feet to a point, said point being the Northeast corner of Lot 32, Block 10, Westhaven Addition; THENCE South a distance of 95. 0 feet to a point, said point being the Southeast corner of said Lot 32; THENCE East a distance of 50. 0 feet to the POINT OF BEGI:N"NING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portions of street as described in Section 1 hereof have been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, p or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, R:pr SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
