Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance - 6596-1973 - Annexing Ordinance 2536 - 03.22.1973KJ:pr »3:3 3' iN 1 iJ ORDINANCE NO. 6596 AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AN AREA OF LAND TO THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, WHICH AREA IS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND LS ADJACENT TO AND ABUTbTHE EXISTING CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: PRO- VIDING FOR CORRECTION OF CITY MAP TO INCLUDE THIS ADDITIONAL TER- RITORY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock and also the best interest of the citizens of the area described hereinbelow, to annex such area to the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the area of land described herein, which abuts and is adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Texas, BE and is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Texas. Such area is described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the present Northwest City limits boundary as described in Ordinance No. 2536, said point being 660 feet North and 150 feet West of the Southeast corer of Survey 7, Block J-S, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE Southalong the present city limits boundary as estab- lished by Ordinance No. 2536, said line being parallel to and 150 feet west of the east lines of Surveys 7 and 2, Block J-S, to a point which is 150 feet West and 150 feet North of the Southeast corner of Survey 2, Block J-S; THENCE West along the present City limits boundary as established by Ordinance No. 2535, said line being parallel to and 150 feet north of the South lines of Survey 2 and 3, Block J-S, to a point which is 150 feet north and 150 feet west of the Southeast corner of Survey 3, Block J-S; THENCE North along a line parallel to and 150 feet West of the east lines of Surveys 3 and 8, Block J--S, to a point which is 150 feet West and 660 feet North of the Southeast corner of Survey 84 Block J-S; THENCE East along a line parallel to and 660 feet north of the South lines of Surveys 8 and 7, Block J-S, to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. (Contains 701.82 acres more or less). SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is herbby directed to immediately correct the map of the City of Lubbock by adding thereto the additional territory annexed by this ordinance, indicating on the map the date of annexation and the number of this Ordinance, The City Secretary -Treasurer and the City Engineer shall each keep in their respective offices an official map of the City of Lubbock showing the boundaries of the municipal corporation including this annexation. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary shall cause the publication of this Ordinance once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper regularly pub- lished in the City of Lubbock.
