I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 63.502, Subchapter F of Chapter 63, Title llOB, Vernon's Annotated Revised Civil Statutes, as amended, the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby authorizes eligible employees of the City of Lubbock to establish credit in the Texas Municipal Retirement System for active military service performed as a member of the armed forces or armed forces reserves of the United States or their auxiliaries. Eligible employees, as used herein, shall be those employees who meet the criteria set forth in Sections 63.502(b) and 63.503 of said Subchapter F. SECTION 2. The above authorization is contingent upon eligible employees establishing credit for active military service in accordance with Section 63.504 of said Subchapter F. SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Lubbock further hereby authorizes TMRS to charge the City of Lubbock's account in the municipality accumulation fund at the time of a member's retirement with an amount equal to the accumulated amount paid by such member times the municipality's current service matching percent in effect on the date the member applied for military service credit under Section 63.504{b) of said Subchapter F. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective on the 1st day of January, 1990. AND IT IS SO ORDERED. Passed by .the City Council on first reading this 16th day of November , 1989.
