ORDINANCE NO. 9304
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-571 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW PROVISION REQUIRING APPOINT-
MENTS TO THE COMMITTEE FOR WOMEN TO BE MADE IN JANUARY OF EACH YEAR HERE-
AFTER; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, appointments for the Committee for Women having been made in
June since the creation of said Committee in June of 1984; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the City
of Lubbock to have such appointments made in January of each year so that
the Committee will be able to prepare its annual goals and objectives in
time for inclusion in the City of Lubbock budget process; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 2-571 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Lubbock, Texas, BE and is hereby amended by adding thereto the following
language:
"Appointments shall be made in January of each year commencing in
January, 1991. Those members appointed to office in June, 1988, shall
hold office until January, 1991, and those members appointed in June,
1989, shall hold office until January, 1992."
SECTION 2. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for
any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
